A press conference was held to announce the $10.6 million Colson gift. The money was used for a new entrance road into Andrews University, a renovation of the Dining Services area, a new milking parlor at the Dairy, and three endowed chairs, two in business and one in theology.

President Andreasen is always part of the welcoming handshake line for incoming freshman who gather to receive their Andrews Study Bible near the bridge connecting Buller and Nethery Halls.

President Andreasen was presented with the Andrews University Alumni Association Medallion as a 2014 Honored Alumnus.

The award is in recognition of Andreasen's 20 years of service as University president thus far. The original presentation took place during the Annual Council in Maryland in October 2014.

At his State of the University speech on August 13, 2015, President Andreasen announced his plans to retire in June 2016.

President Andreasen received a prolonged standing ovation in appreciation of his years of service at Andrews University after his announcement to retire.
