The Master of Divinity program (MDiv) at Andrews University is a professional graduate program designed to train pastors for the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church.
All applicants must hold a four year baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from an approved college or university. Minimum undergraduate GPA: 2.50.
The MDiv degree accommodates both those who have baccalaureate Theology & Religion degrees and those with degrees in other disciplines by offering two tracks.
The Track 1 curriculum is for students who completed a Theology or Religion major in their undergraduate program. It is generally 92 semester credits and requires advanced courses in most subject areas. Track 1 students may commence their studies in either the Summer or Fall semesters.
Track 1 students are expected to have taken specific courses at the undergraduate level. A student’s curriculum will be adjusted to fulfill any deficiencies and will lengthen the program to more than 92 credits.
The Track 2 curriculum, for those with other majors, is generally 107 semester credits and includes many survey and background courses. Track 2 students are required to commence their studies in the Summer semester (May) as many foundational courses are offered during the Summer session.
While the curriculum for Track 2 MDiv students is normally 107 credits, this number can be reduced if a student’s undergraduate transcript shows evidence of listed Track 1 prerequisite courses.
