Cross-cultural competence and cross-cultural effectiveness : a perception analysis of student missionaries from Andrews University
The objective of this study was to determine the relationships between perception of success and cultural competence in a cross-cultural context among student missionaries of Andrews University. Cultural competence was measured by means of an eight-item questionnaire, while perception of success was determined by response to a single item. Data for the study were obtained through the completion of an anonymous survey using an online link through survey monkey. There were 29 respondents. The findings indicate that perception of success varies by levels of competence. Among other things, there was a significant gender effect, with males indicating higher levels of perceived success and post-service competence than females.
