Biography:
Lilianne Doukhan teaches Music History and Literature, and Musicology at Andrews University. She was born in Switzerland and began to study piano at age four in Vienna, Austria. For the next 15 years, Lilianne Doukhan pursued musical studies in Switzerland (Zurich and Geneva), and France (Strasbourg). She was the recipient of a First Prize in Piano Performance at the National Strasbourg Conservatory. She also obtained Masters degrees in Humanities (Strasbourg University, France), as well as in Music (Andrews University), and holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from Michigan State University. Professor Doukhan has lived and worked on four continents (Europe, Aftrica, Asia, and North America) and brings a multi-cultural life experience to her teaching. As former holder of the Oliver S. Beltz Chair of Worship and Church Music at the SDA Theological Seminary at Andrews, Dr. Doukhan has lectured and held workshops on church music all around the world. She is currently completing a book on church music and acts as editor of a collection of articles on worship. Lilianne Doukhan is married to Dr. Jacques Doukhan and they have one daughter, Abigail.
