August 14, 2006 Chantel Blackburn e-mailed us here at the Physics Department recently with an update on her life: "For those of you who don't know, I am beginning a graduate program in mathematics at the University of Arizona. Classes start on August 21! I will be teaching Trigonometry two days a week (pretty scary when I've never taken a Trig class before) and taking 10 credits of classes for my own brain-stretching pleasure. It's been exciting figuring out how to take the public bus to school and remembering how to change bike tires. Filling my kitchen with all sorts of exciting things and learning which stores carry what I want. Talk about an adventure trying to locate a store that sold "nutritional yeast flakes"! I found at least one church that I can go to. So far I've only gone to the Desert Valley SDA Church and there are lots of friendly people there. But a lot of my time has been spent in workshops and orientations." We are all very glad Chantel is getting settled in her new home.
