Welcome to the Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) with a concentration in Health Promotion and Health Education. The BSPH equips students with the knowledge and practical skills to prevent disease, promote healthy lifestyles, protect communities from environmental and health risks, and address today's most pressing public health challenges. Through an interdisciplinary, science-based curriculum, students learn to develop, implement, and evaluate effective public health interventions that improve population health at the local, national, and global levels.

Health Promotion and Health Education

The Health Promotion and Health Education concentration prepares students to empower individuals and communities to achieve healthier lives through education, advocacy, disease prevention, and evidence-based health promotion strategies. Students develop expertise in community health assessment, health behavior change, health communication, program planning and evaluation, wellness promotion, leadership, and public health outreach while gaining practical experience applying these skills in real-world settings.

Graduates are well prepared for careers in hospitals and health systems, public health departments, community health centers, schools and universities, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, corporate wellness programs, faith-based organizations, and international health organizations. Common career paths include Health Educator, Health Promotion Specialist, Wellness Coordinator, Community Health Educator, Population Health Coordinator, Patient Education Coordinator, Community Outreach Specialist, Public Health Program Coordinator, Health Communication Specialist, and Public Health Advocate.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of health education specialists is projected to grow steadily over the coming decade, with thousands of job openings available nationwide each year. Median annual salaries are approximately $63,000, with entry-level positions often beginning around $42,000 and experienced professionals earning more than $100,000, depending on employer, geographic location, and specialization.
