Course Description

This course is a study of the doctrinal development of the Church from the close of the apostolic age to Augustine.  The course is divided into six units that reflect the main turning points in the development of Christian theology.  The course will cover the following themes: the problem of authority, the Trinitarian and Christological controversies, the doctrine of the church, the sacraments and the doctrine of sin and grace.  The implications of these developments upon later Christian and the Seventh-day Adventist theology will also be discussed.
