Neptune is the eighth and farthest planet from the Sun in our solar system. Since it’s so far from the Sun, the light on Earth is 900 times as bright as the light on Neptune. The tilt of Neptune’s axis is about 28 degrees which is close to Earth’s and Mars’ tilts. This means that Neptune has seasons like we do except they last for about 40 years a piece. Neptune in mostly made up of hot dense water, methane, and ammonia. There may also be an ocean of hot water on Neptune under its cold clouds. Neptune also doesn’t have a solid surface. Neptune’s atmosphere mostly consists of hydrogen, helium, and methane. Neptune is believed to have a solid core similar in mass to Earth’s core. Neptune is the windiest planet in the solar system with winds that can reach up to 1,200 miles per hour. Neptune is also not able to support life because of the temperatures, pressures, and materials on the planet. Neptune has 13 known moons and five known rings.
