New Year’s Resolution #8: Spend more time with family and friends.

We really should spend more time with others. It is our friends and family that brighten up our days, that come to our rescue, that say the words we need. And if we are lucky, we will have friends of all kinds! Fun-loving, analytical, serious, jolly, musical, scientific, artistic… you get the idea.

Just like our friends come in all types, so does this plant, Sansivieria – more recently placed in the genus Dracaena. You can see some of the variety right here – short, tall, skinny, not-so-skinny, Yet they are all Dracaena. There are some larger representatives of this family in other rooms as well! Notably, some of our relatives may be a little rough around the edges, maybe having sharp tongues on occasion. This plant is sometimes colloquially known as “mother-in-law’s tongue.”

How did you score on this resolution in the past year?

1 point – I’m pretty busy, so the only social connection I have with people is texting every so often.
2 points – I get together with friends and family, in person or electronically, at least 2 times a month.
3 points – I have specific social times or communication with friends and family at least once a week
