- Help children and teens learn to express their thoughts and feelings, and listen to what they say
- Talk calmly with students about drugs and alcohol using the best scientific evidence
- Learn about the popular culture of children and teens, and talk with them about it
- Help young people build positive solid relationships with positive peers
- Encourage children and youth to participate in prevention programs and afterschool activities
- Make referrals when needed
