Position summary
Student desk worker responsible for answering phones, greeting and helping visitors coming to the department, assisting faculty with typing projects, photocopying, data gathering for research and grading.
This is an afternoon job. We are looking for a student who can work 4 hours on Monday and Wednesday between 12:30pm and 5:30pm.
There is another opening for Tuesday/Thursday afternoons on the Andrews Job site.
Qualifications summary
Can type at least 40 wpm
Can manage reponsibilities with confidentiality
Prefer someone who has taken or is enrolled in intermediate accounting.
Duties and responsibilities
Student Worker Duties
*Check if phone is on
“Forward” when you first come in to work. If it is on forward it should be taken off so that you can answer calls that may be coming in.
*Answer telephone
*Check desk for any projects or notes about professors’ schedules for the day. Work on copies, grading or other work that is needed by any faculty/staff in the SBA.
*Be friendly. Greet students and visitors to the AEF department. Make every effort to assist and answer any questions.
*If a supply is needed and cannot be found or is getting low, please let Stephen Suinda know – he will arrange for supplies to be obtained. If a supply is needed right away – check with the Dean’s secretary to see if she has the supply needed.
*Make copies, send faxes or scan for professors or administrative assistants as needed.
*Keep paper in the printer.
*Contact Derill when you or faculty have computer problems.
*Type or create memos, letters, tests, signs announcing assemblies, etc. for faculty as requested.
*Be sure that the bulletin board is always neat and orderly.
*Maintain order in the magazines on the table in the office.
*Grading tests and/or assignments for some classes may be part of the work load depending on what classes you are enrolled in and how much expertise you posses in those fields.
*And other clerical work as needed.

Qualifications
Intermediate Accounting a plus (but not required)
Can type and use software such as Word and Excel.
Technical competencies
Basic knowledge of excel
Interpersonal interactions
Must be comfortable interacting with and assisting students, faculty and visitors to the department.
Friendly, reliable, helpful.
Physical demands
Must be able to type at least 40 wpm
Work environment
Quiet working environment.
