Position summary

The position holds a faculty appointment and has academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the Department of Computing and of Andrews University. The Department of Computing has programs in Computer Science, Information Systems, Informatics, and Data Science.

Qualifications summary

• Doctorate preferred in Computer Science or closely related field.    


• Ability to demonstrate inclusivity, civility, and respect for all. 


• Capable of working closely with other faculty in a team-oriented environment. 


• The candidate must be dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and service  


• Participates as a member of the Department of Computing in casting a shared vision.

Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

• Teach Computer Science and related courses. 


• Teach physically on campus. 


• Serve on university committees.  


• Research and scholarly activity. 


• Stay current in new approaches to instruction, and new developments in the computing field via professional development activities. 


• Participates in departmental assessment of student learning outcomes and utilization of resulting data as tools to advance the quality of departmental programs and services.   


• Participates in faculty meetings, course scheduling, bulletin copy and other governance of the Department.  


• Advising current students and meeting with new students. 


• Act with integrity, fairness, and confidentiality in all duties.  


• Promote student success.  

Supervisory responsibilities

• Student advising  


• Student research projects

Qualifications

     Preferred Consideration 

• Doctorate preferred in Computer Science or closely related field.    


• All But Dissertation Defense will be considered. 

     Will Consider also 

• Masters in a Computer Science or closely related field. 

     Additionally  

• Value scholarship through research publications and presentations  


• Proficient in verbal and written English  


• Ability to demonstrate inclusivity, civility, and respect for all  


• Capable of working closely with other faculty in a team-oriented environment  


• Keep current with the best practices of the profession
