Position summary
The position will provide computer and technology support for students and teachers. This position is primarily responsible for maintaining computer labs, library, personal computers/laptops, assisting students with accounts/login issues, and providing students a foundation for future technological needs.
Qualifications summary
- Thorough knowledge of implementing and supporting personal computer hardware, peripherals, and software applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware or software problems on personal computers, projectors and connect mobile devices.
- Ability to set up computer security and safety measures (e.g. antivirus, firewall, child blocking).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to provide guidance and answer technical questions.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
The following duties may be assigned.
- Provide technical consultation for teachers, staff, and students through a variety of communication methods.
- Respond to requests for troubleshooting and resolve technical computer problems related to access of RMES educational resources.
- Maintain the computer labs, and other classroom technology equipment including Chromebooks, laptops or desktop computers, projectors, document cameras, etc.
- Provide routine maintenance, updates, and once a year replacement of computers in labs.
- Maintain the computers and scanners for library use and Extend Education.
- Assist in the maintainence of the digital signage.
Supervisory responsibilities
- Maintain communication and collaboration with the appropriate partners at Ruth Murdoch Elementary School and Andrews University. .
- Explore best practices and make recommendation to ensure continuous quality improvement in technology services and resources at RMES.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Technical competencies
To perform the job successfully the employee must
- Be knowledgeable in a variety of computer operating systems, hardware and software.
- Be able to set up and repair computer hardware and other associated devices such as projectors, document cameras, TV.
- Be thorough and attentive to details when diagnosing computer problems.
- Demonstrate problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Be able to train users how to use new hardware or software.
Interpersonal interactions
- The employee must work harmoniously with Andrews University and Ruth Murdoch School personnel.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders including students, other staff members, the principal, parents and AU ITS personnel.
- Interact in a collegial, ethical manner, showing mutual respect and compassion for all co-workers and students
- Work cooperatively with staff toward resolution of mutual concerns.
- Demonstrate a team spirit, shares ideas, materials, and methods with other teachers constituents.
- Provide support for school sponsored activities, as needed.
- Display excellent listening ands verbal communication skill
