Overview of Optional Benefits

Andrews University offers to its employees a variety of optional or elective benefits. Below is a brief overview of optional benefits for eligible employees. For an outline of eligibility and the complete description of each benefit, click the link to the respective benefit.

Auto Insurance Reduced rates for automobile insurance have been arranged for University employees.
Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Employees working a minimum of 20 hours per week can participate in AD&D. This benefit protects against losses due to accidents.
Flex Spending Accounts Reduce your taxable income and reimburse yourself for health-care and dependent day-care expenses through flex-spending accounts.
Long-Term Care Program Coverage for extended care of chronic illness, injury, or old age is available through Hartford Life Insurance Company.
Short-Term Disability (AFLAC) If you are an hourly employee, you may obtain personal short-term disability benefit for covered disability conditions.
Supplemental Life Insurance This program is designed as a supplemental coverage to the basic Survivors Benefit Plan (Group Term Life Insurance) provided by the University.
