Human Resources Vacation Eligibility: All regular employees of Andrews University working a minimum of 20 hours per week. Who Pays: University Effective Date: Hourly Rated Employees: Upon completion a 90-day orientation period; however, the paid leave bank starts accruing at the time of hire. You are not allowed to take any of this time until you are a regular employee, i.e. you are eligible to use time accrued once the orientation period is completed. Faculty and Salaried Employees: After one full year of service. Description: Your vacation is a time intended for rest and relaxation; for this reason you may not receive pay in lieu of vacation. Unused vacation time, with the approval of your supervisor may be carried over to the following year, but not more than six weeks may be taken in any one calendar year or upon termination. Exceptions may be made of your superior has been unable to grant you vacation at the time you reached your maximum. You are encouraged to take the vacation at one or two times per year. The number of weeks of vacation you are entitled to is determined by your years of denominational employment as shown on your Employee Service Record.
Regular part-time employees shall accrue vacation time on a prorata basis. The rate of vacation time accrual shall be on the basis of years of full-time equivalency.
