| Primary Duties: |
- The DCE holds a faculty appointment and has administrative, academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the Physical Therapy Department.
- This individual demonstrates competence in clinical education, teaching, and curriculum development.
- In addition, the ACCE primary responsibilities are to plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer, and monitor activities on behalf of the academic program and in coordination with academic and clinical faculty.
- Promote the mission of the university and the vision of the physical therapy department which is to
\"Unite Christian Values with Healthcare Education\".
- Obtain a working knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy.
- Work with students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Select clinical learning environments that demonstrate characteristics of sound patient/client
management, ethical and professional behavior, and currency with physical therapy practice. - Develop quality learning experiences for students during clinical education.
- Initiate, monitor, and refine the clinical education component of the curriculum.
- Travel to clinical sites by airplane, rental car and personal vehicle, as needed.
- Evaluate students\' performance to determine their ability to integrate didactic and clinical learning.
- Educate students and clinical faculty about clinical education.
- Maximize available resources for the clinical education program.
- Provide documented records and annually assess the clinical education component.
- Work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
- Teach students in the PT Department and other courses as assigned by the department to equal a full-time teaching load.
- Prepare course materials and deliver lectures to students.
- Compile bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
- Compile, administer, and grade examinations, or assign this work to others.
- Coordinate and monitor the participation of clinical faculty.
- Direct research of graduate students.
- Design and conduct independent and/or collaborative research in particular field of knowledge.
- Present and publish research findings in peer reviewed forums.
- Perform related duties such as advising students on academic and vocational curricula, and act as adviser to student organizations.
- Serve on department and university committees as assigned.
- Provide professional clinical care and/or consulting services to healthcare, government or industry.
- Participate in curriculum development and evaluation.
- Act as faculty liaison for PT chapter of the alumni association.
- Submit quarterly PT program updates to MPTA Shorelines.
- Supervise clinical faculty, supporting faculty and clinical assistants.
- Supervise students, student workers and graduate assistants in their assigned tasks.

| Qualifications: |
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapist professional program.
- Licensed or eligible for Physical Therapist licensure in the state of Michigan.
- Earned advanced doctorate preferred (academic or professional). Masters or entry-level doctorate candidates must be willing to pursue an Andrews University sponsored advanced doctorate degree within one year of hire date.
- At least two years of clinical experience as a physical therapist.
- At least one year of physical therapy clinical coordination (CCCE) preferred or clinical instructor (CI)
experience.
- Communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.
- Current knowledge and experience in the use of information and computer technology (eg, word processing, e-mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills.
- Willing to become a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Hold a current US driver’s license and be legally able to drive in the fifty states and Canada.
