Biography:
Debbie Michel worked as a producer at Dateline NBC and Nightly News with Tom Brokaw. While at NBC News, she covered an array of national stories, including the Death of Princess Diana, Heaven's Gate Cult, Jon Benet Ramsey Murder, President Clinton Scandals, 9/11, the Iraqi War, DC Snipers, and Hurricane Katrina.
Michel's work at Dateline was recognized with National Headliner and National Association of Black Journalists awards, as well as various Emmy nominations. However, she considers it a blessing to have gone from reporting bad news to spreading the good news, for it is the "power of God unto salvation to anyone who believeth."
Prior to journalism, she worked in book publishing as an Associate Literary Agent and in Advertising as a Media Buyer.
A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Debbie Michel is married to photographer/graphic designer Jean-Ires Michel and they have a four-year-old daughter.
