Biography:
Dr. Allen Steele brings to Andrews University a wide background in international communication.  He launched the first broadcasts of Adventist World Radio from Lisbon, Portugal, at its inception in 1971, supervised the construction of the AWR station on the island of Guam, became worldwide program and training director and eventually vice-president of AWR, based in England.  He taught university level classes at Newbold College, England, and Avondale College in Australia before becoming president of the Adventist Media Network in the South Pacific.  He has written three books and written many articles on communication topics.  

Steele says some highlights of his experience include many years as a Pathfinder leader, traveling around the world to hold training events and making friends in many cultures. His hobbies include hiking, gardening, reading and he loves beaches.


Current Research or Professional Activities:
Dr. Allen Steele is an active member of the Huguenot Society and enjoys doing historical research on that topic.  He serves on a number of graduate project committees, does volunteering radio script writing and is focusing on a major research project of matching journalism ethics and practice to biblical themes.
