  MA Educational Psychology

The MA degree in the Educational Psychology program at Andrews University focuses on developing well-rounded students. It combines scientific theories, practical methods, and research to prepare students for working with diverse individuals. The training emphasizes continuous learning, covering both normal development and specific disorders, to create adaptable and lifelong learners in the field.

PROGRAM LENGTH

  • Length of the program depends on the chosen concentration and the semester started.
  • Students are accepted in fall, spring, and summer semesters.  Full-time students can finish in 1-2 years.
  • Please note online and evening classes are available.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  2. Committee Review: Application reviewed by the Master's Admission Committee.
  3. Interview: If selected, the applicant will be interviewed by the Program Coordinator.
  4. Decision: Committee votes on applicant's fit based on interview and overall profile.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Official transcripts: Submit transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.
  • Recommendations: Two recommendations required from professionals (e.g., advisors, professors, employers), with at least one being academic and excluding relatives.
  • Resume: Provide information about employment, research, or special projects.
  • Minimum GPA: A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.60 is required.
  • Statement of Purpose: 500-word Statement of Purpose outlining objectives (why study at Andrews University?), goals (personal, professional and academic) and future plans.

NOTE: Transfer credit requirements - Students wishing to transfer in credits from another university are required to complete a minimum of 80% of their credits in residence at Andrews University.  Classes being considered for transfer must meet equivalence guidelines.

Research: The program encourages student engagement in scientific research, with faculty mentoring and support. It emphasizes educational psychology as a scientific discipline, promoting lifelong learning and research, practice, multicultural aspects of behavior, and the science of the mind. The Office of Research and Creative Scholarship provides resources for student research projects.
