Residency Admissions Requirements
Applying to the Program
The NAIOMT/Andrews University Orthopedic Residency Program participates in the Residency/Fellowship Physical Therapy Centralized Application Service (RF-PTCAS). All applicants will need to apply through this system. We have a rolling admissions so applications can be submitted at any time during the year.
The current start times for the programs are in January, July, or September. Instructions for submitting the RF-PTCAS application are available on the RF-PTCAS website
Admissions Requirements
The minimum requirements to be considered for admission are:
- Licensed Physical Therapist - to be eligible for this program you need to hold or be in the process of obtaining licensure as a physical therapist in the U.S.. or Canada.
Application Materials
RF-PTCas requires the following materials for an application to be considered complete:

Completed RF-PTCAS Application

Official transcripts - a transcript must be submitted from every PT U.S. college and university attended.

Application Fee - this fee is paid directly to RF-PTCAS and must be received before application is considered complete.

Recommendations – a minimum of three satisfactory recommendations must be turned in from:

The ACCE of the physical therapy program you attended

A faculty member of the physical therapy program you attended

A clinical supervisor you interned with during physical therapy school

In the case that you have been out of school for longer than 3-5 years, the letters of recommendation may follow the same standards as the DScPT applicants, from:

A currently practicing physical therapist

A medical doctor
-
Another person familiar with the candidate

RF-PTCAS also collects the following materials that are required by our program for acceptance

Physical Therapist License
-
If foreign trained - evaluated foreign transcripts from foreign PT colleges attended or Canadian transcripts
Our program also asks that you submit a Resume or Curriculum Vitae that can be sent directly to our program for acceptance. Please email to ptpostpro@andrews.edu.
- Curriculum Vitae/Resume – Provide an updated copy of your curriculum vitae/resume to include the following information:

Educational background

Employment history related to physical therapy if applicable

Clinical internship descriptions from entry level education program if a new graduate or < 1 year of clinical practice

Licensure information: either provide a copy of a current PT license or plans to attain licensure if a new graduate

Any continuing education or elective education related to the field of orthopedic and/or manual physical therapy

Any certifications received such as CSCS, ATC, etc.
