Course Cost: $550.00 by August 30, 2015; $600 after August 30, 2015
INSTRUCTOR: Stacy Soappman, PT, DSc, COMT, FAAOMPT
This course will teach the biomechanical examination and manual physical therapy intervention of selected joints of the upper and lower limb (shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, ankle, SI), with emphasis on high velocity low amplitude mobilization/manipulation techniques(HVLAT/thrust). Current literature and evidence will be reviewed to apply the intervention safely, efficiently, and effectively to meet the patient/client needs. This course will show you how to practically apply this technique to a wide variety of patient populations including your athletes to geriatric patients.
The course will include 7 hrs of online pre-course work and 2 days of on-site learning. (21 hours total)
Objectives:
- Apply detailed biomechanical knowledge of joints, to examine and diagnose/hypothesize the movement dysfunction that would benefit from thrust techniques
- Rapidly recognize common clinical presentation of the movement dysfunctions
- Refine manual skills and safely and effectively apply thrust techniques to the extremity joints
