Possibly the most consistent consequences of childhood incest are loss of self-esteem and negative self concept.

Her poor self-image may be compounded by feelings of anger and guilt.

Is often self-defeating during adulthood because of feelings of unworthiness of emotional, physical and material satisfaction.

She may spend a large proportion of her time pursuing relationships as she feels undeserving of love and happiness.

She may project her intensive self-loathing as hostility.

In an attempt to gain some measure of esteem, the survivor may rely on pleasing others, as she did in childhood.
