- Females are at the highest risk and have the highest rates of STD’s as compared to males
- Varying research reporting clinical detection of agents causing STD’s:
- Chlamydia - 8-40% of sexually active female adolescents
- Gonorrhea - 3-18%
- Trichomonas - zero to 48%
- H. simplex - 2%
- Syphilis - 3%
- HPV - 18 to 33% of females
