At Lamson Hall, our mission is to guide our residents to love the Lord with all their hearts, all their minds, and to love their neighbors as themselves.

Staff Vision
To be used as change agents to educate (draw forth) from our residents the endangered core values of: courage, commitment, confidence, creativity, communication and compassion, and to nurture the discovery of their God-given gifts.

Endangered Values

  • Courage: Overcoming paralyzing fears, leaving our comfort zones, stretching our limits, standing by our convictions.
  • Commitment: Setting goals and achieving success, crashing through quitting points, making personal sacrifice, delaying gratification.
  • Confidence: Believing in our own and others' potential, looking beyond the obvious, envisioning impossible dreams, knowing that through Christ all things are possible.
  • Creativity: To be thinkers and not mere reflectors, unleashing our spontaneous childlike spirit, brainstorming all the options.
  • Communication: Strengthening our relationship with our Father, honestly and effectively relating to one another, loving our neighbor enough to share the Good News.
  • Compassion:
Tender Love--The gifts of kindness, understanding and love, walking in someone else's moccasins, "Do to others as you would like them to do to you."
Tough Love--Insisting on truth in relationships, caring enough to confront, "You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free."
Radical Love--Giving outrageous service, breaking the cycle of hostility, "Greater love hath no one than if they lay down their life for a friend."

 Goals

  • To facilitate the advancement of the spiritual growth and development of residents in their relationship to Christ through spiritual programming.
  • To enhance student learning through academic success and educational programming.
  • To inspire and strengthen appropriate, loving and enjoyable friendships while encouraging proper lifestyle choices through social programming.
  • To advance opportunities for a healthy, balanced lifestyle through physical programming.
  • To encourage residents to think critically regarding moral and ethical choices in the pursuit of character development through thematic programming and residence hall expectations in general.
  • To provide an atmosphere for residents to learn to live comfortably with each other regardless of race, creed, or diversity while respecting each other's rights.

Behavioral Objectives
Students will be able to:

  • Strengthen their love for the Lord and experience rewarding relationships with each other.
  • Avail themselves of opportunities for learning and classroom readiness which are facilitated in the residence hall.
  • Appreciate the importance of living within the expectations of a neighborly community.
  • Discover their God-given gifts of service and leadership.
  • Think critically recognizing the virtue of embracing the endangered values as being necessary and integral to character development.
  • Appreciate and enjoy the social, relational, and educational value of the diverse community.
