Our Facilities
Lamson Hall is so much more than a place to sleep and study. Take a look around, and you'll discover a wealth of facilities you're sure to use on a regular basis. From kitchenettes to a top-notch health club, they'll help make your stay at Lamson more comfortable and convenient.
Kitchenettes
We encourage you to take advantage of our four kitchenettes, one located on each floor. Sure, you probably won't have time to cook three square meals a day--that's what the Terrace Cafe is for--but if you get a hankering for blueberry pancakes on Sunday morning or just want to bake your best friend a double chocolate fudge birthday cake, you'll be happy to know Lamson kitchenettes come equipped with much of what you'll need: stove/oven, refrigerator, ample counter space, and sink. All you need is your ingredients and cooking tools. You can use Lamson kitchenettes any time except from 12:30-7:00 am.
Laundry Rooms
We can't keep you from ruining that load of whites with a stray red sock, but we do provide clean, convenient laundry facilities in Lamson Hall. Coin-operated washing machines and dryers are located in laundry rooms on each floor. You'll also find ironing boards, irons, and rinsing sinks in each of these rooms. Since your Lamson rent subsidizes overhead costs, you won't find cheaper laundry facilities at any laundromat. In a pinch, laundry soap and fabric softener are available from the vending machine located by the mailboxes in the basement. In preparation for Sabbath, laundry rooms are closed one hour before Friday night sundown and then unlocked after sundown Saturday night.
Computer Labs

Lamson Hall provides a 24-hour computer lab for resident use. That means when the James White Library and other campus computer labs close, you can continue working on those projects and papers. At Lamson's computer lab, academic use always takes priority over personal use. This means when you're blogging and a fellow Lamsonite needs to research to meet a next-day deadline, please be considerate and let her use the computer. Also note that you'll need to provide your own disks and when you click "print," pick up your papers at the front desk. And remember, no drinking or eating at the computers.
Lobbies

With their ample seating and lighting, Lamson Hall's comfortably furnished main East and West first-floor lobbies aare designed for chatting and studying with friends--yes, even gentlemen friends before curfew. You'll also find several additional lobbies on each of Lamson's floors. These are restricted to Lamson residents and their female guests and are ideal places to curl up with a comfy blanket and a good book or, on a less leisurely note, cram for finals without interrupting your slumbering roommate. However, please make sure your rousing English lit study group doesn't interrupt the peace and quiet of the girls in the rooms across the hall.
Health Club

OK, you might not want biceps to rival your boyfriend's, but you probably want to stay healthy and active. Studies prove that exercise triggers feel-good endorphins and helps you learn quicker and retain more, not to mention the obvious health benefits. So be sure to check out Lamson Hall's Health Club, complete with treadmills, stairmaster, elliptical fitness cross-trainers (EFX), Nordic track trainers, Nautilus machines, and over 1,000 pounds in free weights--in case you are the body-building sort. There's even a boxing bag for your venting pleasure after that killer Calculus exam. For a more relaxing alternative, the club also provides a dry sauna, spa, and massage therapy. You might also consider signing up for one of the many classes--like spinning or kick-boxing--offered in the multi-purpose room adjacent to the Health Club. A one-time initiation is required for first-time members.
