Accountability

Students who choose to attend Andrews University make a commitment to be part of a gathered community and agree to be held accountable for honoring that commitment.

Absences. Absences due to field trips, medical appointments, illness or emergencies that occur on Tuesdays or Thursdays will not be excused. However, students who present a teacher's or doctor's note documenting the reason for a Thursday absence may have the option to view/listen to a missed Thursday Chapel or Forum online (if available) and to file a report to the Student Life Office within a week of the absence.

Please contact the Student Life office immediately after such an absence to see if you qualify for the online accomodation.

Accessing Your Record.  Students are responsible for keeping track of their attendance throughout the semester.  To access your record please go here and follow the links.  If programs you have attended do not show up within a week, please immediately e-mail ccattend@andrews.edu.  Provide your name and ID number along with the date, time and description of the program you attended, and someone will look into the matter.

Educational Fees

There is a $315 fee for the co-curriculum per semester - one fourth the cost of regular tuition.  This amount will not be charged until the end of the semester.  As an incentive for attendance, this fee can be reduced or completely eliminated based upon your participation (see below).

Co-Curricular Standing

A pattern of failing to meet the co-curricular requirement will result in increased levels of accountability response along with a decrease in the educational fee discount.

Number of PROGRAMS SHORT/ Discount                                 Co-curricular standing
0 credits short; $315 discount Students will receive a Letter of Commendation
1-3 credits short; $290-270 discount  Students will receive a Letter of Acknowledgement
4-9 credits short; $260-210 discount  Students will receive a Letter of Warning
10-15 credits short; $200-150 discount  Students will be placed on co-curricular probation and receive a Letter of Probation, and may be ineligible to apply for certain leadership positions and/or to receive certain student privileges. A second semester of probation-level activity will result in a hold being placed on a student's account.
16 or more credits short; $140-0 discount

Students will be placed on co-curricular probation and receive a Letter of Probation and have their registration for a future semester put on hold. Students with a hold on their registration must bring their attendance up to required levels in order to register for a future semester.
