2024 Trip to Totality

Andrews University is pleased to provide you with the opportunity to view the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024 with a day trip to southern Illinois.

The total eclipse is expected to be viewed by millions. This is the second total solar eclipse visible from contiguous states in the US since 1979. After this one, the next total solar eclipse visible from the contiguous United States will be on August 23, 2044.

Should the weather forecast indicate that viewing the eclipse will not be possible at our initial location, we've arranged for alternate viewing locations.

Trip price

• $230 for AU students registered for PHYS 110 Astronomy, PHYS 117 Observational Astronomy Lab, or PHYS 277 Physics Colloquium. Trip signup via course registration will be available exclusively to AU students through January 17, 2024.
• $290 for faculty, staff, and family members of students, faculty, and st. Trip signup will be available after January 17, 2024.

Trip price includes:

• Round-trip coach bus transportation
• Three meals
• A pair of eclipse glasses
• A commemorative picnic blanket
• Bus transportation to an alternate viewing site in case of cloudy weather
