Chapter 12: Introduction to Calculus

Calculus focuses on two main problems: derivatives and integrals. Derivatives are the rate of change of some quantity such as the how quickly the amount of water behind the dam is changing. Integrals are areas but can be used to find volumes. They are also the opposite operation of a derivative. An integral could be used to describe the area of the lake behind the dam as a function of the depth of the water.
