Horace Delisser

Yearbook Edition

Horace is more than meets the eye. "God's calling is for me to help people in where He's guiding me; He wants me to be a witness in my career. People often forget that every career is a chance to help people and testify," he says. Currently a junior, Horace Delisser, a pre-Physical Therapy Horace Delissermajor, goes on to note that his post-college plans are to be a Physical Therapist or an orthopedic surgeon; two careers which are likely to have been inspired by his father's own career in the medical field.

At ease with the Andrews University campus, Delisser describes the reason he chose AU instead of an east coast state school closer to his New Jersey home. "My previous education wasn't at a Seventh-day Adventist school, I wanted to experience an Adventist school, plus, a lot of my friends didn't understand my convictions and there were pressures to do things I didn't agree with." When asked what he thinks of dorm life, an environment that can cause as much conflict as it can cause harmony, Delisser says, "it's a mixture, sometimes it can be annoying...I haven't had the best dorm experience but the good thing is bonding with guys who are in your classes." Delisser is a guy whose free time is dedicated to both relaxing and hard work. He lists basketball and drawing as some of his hobbies and also has heart for ministry.

For this and last year at Andrews, Delisser has taken on leadership roles in Campus Ministry's Out-reach program, being a positive role model and servant to his fellow students and the Benton Harbor community.

"...every career is a chance to

help people and testify."

Horace Delisser

When asked what his pet peeves are, Delisser lists gossip, and not having enough time. His favorite sports teams are proclaimed as "all the Philly teams," with special emphasis on the Eagles. Delisser lists Jesus Christ along with his father as his personal heroes. He has one younger brother in state school and is very happy with his family. Delisser describes himself humbly, stating, "I am generally kind, I like to help people, and am active, sometimes tiresome." "An interesting thing few people know about him is that when he was in 6th grade, he was the only male in the class, a situation that humors him when he looks back on it. Delisser looks forward to his time at Andrews and is thankful for the many friends and experiences he has had thus far.
