Wendy Wilds

Yearbook Edition

Many of you who come to Lamson Hall's Health Club know me as the spinning instructor. And, yes, while I enjoy practicing a healthy lifestyle (which includes lots of good food, and any physical activities from Wendy Wildsworkouts in the gym to cycling, hiking, surfing, snowboarding or riding my Harley in the Colorado mountains), I have a wide variety of interests that have made my stay at Andrews beneficial and exciting.

I love international travel. I am fascinated to meet such a variety of races and cultures and I marvel at the ways people live in different parts of the world. I myself am no stranger to living and trekking around the world. I was born in Stuttgart, Germany on an American army base. My mother is from Seoul, South Korea, and my father is North American from Washington State. I grew up in Denver, Colorado. Furthermore, I have seen many amazing sights around the world. I loved Peru for the indigenousness of the people and was very impressed with the history of Machu Picchu. Costa Rica is where I learned to surf and swam with giant sea turtles! Also, Montana is one of the most beautiful states in the U.S. and when you are there you understand why they call it Big Sky Country.

My major fits my love of travel as a student in the International Language Studies program, I will graduate this May with a B.A. in Spanish Studies, and then I will either be living in Spain, working abroad for a number of years and perfecting my Spanish language skills, or I have thought about returning to Denver and opening my own gym. I had gone to college for a year directly after high school in 1992 then taken quite a number of years off before deciding to go back to college. Although I could have stayed in Denver and gone to a state or community college I chose to come to an Adventist University because I value Christian education.

"I hope that I may be a positive

influence to others..."

Wendy Wilds

I sort of fell into teaching Spinning and Cardio Kickboxing at Lamson Health Club. What began as instructing a handful of my friends, has evolved into a full schedule of cardio classes 5 days each week. I have also been blessed to be able to teach Cardio Kick for Andrews University as a P.E. class for two years now. Being able to teach people a fun and effective way to work out and get fit has been the ultimate job for me while being a student here at Andrews. I have a lot of energy and passion for fitness and health and it's an incredibly great blessing to be able to share that with the people who come to my classes.

I am forever appreciative of being raised in a religion that taught the importance of good health, fitness and nutrition. I will continue to live my life by these principles and I hope that I may be a positive influence to others and honor God through my lifestyle. I thoroughly enjoy working with people in the areas of fitness and nutrition. This type of work would be rewarding and fulfilling because I place a lot of value in living and practicing a healthy lifestyle.
