Biography

Enrique Bernal is an Associate Professor interested in serving others through researching, teaching, and practicing architecture with an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for collaborative work.

He egressed as an architect from ITESO, a prestigious university in the west of Mexico, and completed his master's degree at Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon.

Since 2007, He started his professional practice in different projects in commercial, residential, educational, hospitality, and other areas. His work includes different scales of design, from furniture to urban projects. He founded his studio, Ergo Espacio, in 2007 and has had the opportunity to work in association with many architects and professionals in planning, developing, and promoting architecture.

In 2014, he began his academic path as the founder, coordinator, and professor of the architecture program at the University of Montemorelos. While there, taught courses in different areas, such as history and theory, architectural management, and design studios.

Here at SAID, Professor Bernal teaches 4th and 5th year students Design Theory and Urban Studies lectures and is co-leading Topic Studio: Design/Build, and Urban Design Studio.

Professor Bernal has a deep interest in sustainable and meaningful space design. He believes in architecture as an opportunity for enhancing the quality of life no matter the scale of the project, whether a chair or an urban development. He strongly believes in God as the first and foremost architect and thrives to observe and learn from the Great Master revealed in nature and his Word.
