Degree Application Steps

1. Apply online at andrews.edu/apply.  Enter your full legal name as you will want this on your transcripts and any degree conferred. Complete all pages of the application. Pay the $30 application fee. 
2. Request official records be directly sent by mail or email: sderegister@andrews.edu

3. Track your admission status online anytime by activating your Andrews username.
   1. Go to Username Activation and follow the prompts. A video tutorial is available to guide you.
   2. Then return to vault.andrews.edu, click on PreVue, and log in using the username and password.
4. Prepare financially.
   1. US citizens should complete the Federal Student Aid application at studentaid.gov regardless of whether they plan to use financial aid. Enter the Andrews University code as 002238. Reference eligibility guidelines at studentaid.ed.gov/understand-aid/eligibility.
   2. As undergraduate online courses are significantly discounted, no scholarships are designed for distance degree students taking this type of course. Scholarships are not available to guest students.
5. Wait for a decision letter. If you are not accepted, consider taking the suggested steps in the letter in order to re-apply. If you are accepted, your transcripts will be articulated, showing which transfer credits can be applied to your distance degree. 
6. Schedule appointments with advisors. Their contact information is shown on your PreVue page. Your academic advisor will work with you on degree planning once transfer credits are articulated, and your financial advisor will answer any questions about clearing financially.
7. Register for classes in Registration Central. Email sderegister@andrews.edu if you need help. Learn more about course delivery modes, as this impacts your course choice:
   1. If you select self-paced open learning (section 901) courses, you will have 180 days from your selected start date to complete each course. You may register for self-paced open learning courses at any time, and work at your own pace, if paying without financial aid. If you use federal financial aid, self-paced full term courses are your best online option, to be completed in the regular four-month semester start and end dates. 
   2. If you take any other type of online or on-campus courses, pay attention to the fixed start and end dates, and registration deadlines. Late fees will apply.

Are there admission deadlines?
Decisions on complete distance degree applications can be made within a week.  Course delivery mode and choices in funding your education will impact when you can begin classes.

• If you are paying directly for self-paced open learning courses, registration is open year-round, so you can begin classes as soon as you enroll and pay.    
• If you are paying with federal student aid, registration is limited to courses with full term dates (self-paced and interactive).
• Enrollment for future terms, starting with the term you are admitted to, can be done several months ahead. Work with your financial advisor to clear financially before the next term starts.  Term dates are posted in the current academic calendar.
