MA in Leadership Program
The 36-credit Masters of Arts in Leadership prepares emerging and experienced professionals for today's demanding challenges of leadership in nonprofit or for-profit environments. Designed around a distance-delivery model, this MA can be taken on-campus or at a distance. This MA program integrates well with other leadership programs in the department or the university and serves as a bridge to both the undergraduate leadership program and the doctoral leadership program.
Participants pursuing an MA in Leadership work with advisors to develop an individualized Leadership and Learning Plan (LLP). Two options are available: the Job-Embedded Design or the Concentration Design. Both designs require 36 credits and the completion of a portfolio and research work.
The “concentration” design allows individuals to work at their own pace to develop specific competencies aligned with their area of concentration and specific areas of leadership development. Participants work with advisors to develop a course plan that includes 18 credits Core and in one of four 18-credit concentrations:
The job-embedded design is created with an official Andrews University partner organization to attract a cohort of professionals that want to work together to acquire a set of competencies useful for their organization or region. Competencies are developed and documented in a portfolio and presented to a faculty panel. The MA in Leadership programs in Brazil follow this program design.
This cohort-based program sponsored by the South-American Division of Seventh-day Adventists is offered in Portuguese through our partner site at the Adventist University Center of Sao Paulo in Engenheiro Coelho (UNASP), in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The program is competency-based and is conducted in five intensive sessions. It is designed to be completed in two and a half years.
