David Petraeus, U.S. Army General (Ret.) and Former CIA Director
We will close the 2014-15 season with four-star General David Petraeus whose distinguished military career spanned more than 37 years and culminated with six straight commands (five of which were in combat). He’s widely credited with dramatically reducing the violence in Iraq and for halting the Taliban’s momentum in Afghanistan when he led operations there.

Following his military service, Petraeus directed the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) overseeing significant achievements in America’s global counterterrorism campaign, pursuing an initiative to increase worldwide intelligence coverage and bringing about the new Economic Security Center.

Over his career, Petraeus has received numerous U.S. military, State Department, NATO and United Nations awards and has been decorated by 12 foreign countries. Today he serves as chairman of the Global Institute of KKR, is a visiting professor of public policy at CUNY’s Macaulay Honors College and is a Judge Widney Professor at the University of Southern California.

Our evening with him will provide deeper insights into the global challenges facing us today.
