The Office of Human Resources and the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum are excited to provide an opportunity to challenge faculty members to reflect on their current teaching practices and to discuss ways to foster active learning, increase engagement, and improve student achievement.

Please join us for Faculty Book Club in the upcoming Spring semester, as we will be reading The Courage to Teach, by Parker Palmer.  Come and be inspired to grow professionally as we dialogue with colleagues about the book and our lived experiences in higher education.

Below are the dates the Faculty Book Club will meet to discuss and process various chapters of the book.  Please note that discussion groups will begin at 11:45am, 12:00pm, and 12:15pm to accommodate varying schedules:

Monday, January 11, 2016:  Intro and Chapter 1

            Monday, February 8, 2016:  Chapters 2 and 3

            Monday, March 7, 2016:  Chapters 4 and 5

            Monday, April 18, 2016:  Chapters 6 and 7, Afterword

To RSVP, please send an email to training@andrews.edu, and provide your full name, ID#, email address, and the department in which you teach.  The first 25 faculty members to RSVP will receive a complimentary copy of the book.  Also, please know that lunch will be provided.
