#ThankfulAndrews

Campus Announcements | Posted on November 20, 2017

In this season of Thanksgiving, we asked members of our Andrews University campus community to take a few minutes and intentionally note their blessings. We are reminded that we truly have so many things to be thankful for…

I’m thankful for people who smile and for those who inspire me to do better. For the challenges that help me become a better person. For the ability to learn a little more each day. For joy and for those around me who are joyful. For a warm office and a beautiful campus. For the support of my family and friends. For the new in every day.

I am so grateful that Andrews University has brought me in contact with so many wonderful people over the years. I have met eager, intelligent students, passionate and caring faculty, and administrators who envision what Andrews can be. I have worked with committed people who could be earning a lot more somewhere else for the contribution they give day in and day out at Andrews. This place is full of wonderful people with interesting stories and a desire to contribute to their world in a positive way. I feel so fortunate to have had a career at this school.

I’m thankful to be “Nana” Wanda to my friend’s children. Having never had children of my own, it’s a joy when her 18-month-old sees me and comes running. I’m also thankful that her 5-year-old always asks me to come to their house. I’m also thankful that I get to share the gift of music and for all the friends that I’ve made because of this gift.

I am thankful that I live in a country where I am not fleeing for my life and do not need to worry about where my children’s next meal will come from. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a voice for those who are oppressed. I am grateful for the hope of ultimate healing in the world to come.
