H.E.L.P., the weekly Andrews student, faculty and staff mentorship program for students in grades 1–5, is designed to improve the learning outcomes for the Benton Harbor Area Schools and begins again this week. Sessions are Fridays from 1–3:40 p.m. Teams (three individuals) are assigned classrooms where they build positive relationships in an evidence-based program to support student academic success and improve the classroom climate. Transportation and other classroom supplies will be provided each week. Buses will depart Andrews University at 1:30 p.m.

We also provide Math Tutoring to 1st-grade students on on Wednesdays and will run from 1:30–3:20 p.m.  Transportation is also provided.

These are excellent opportunities for students to earn service and co-curricular credits. These programs also provide participants with valuable experience working with young children who are eager to learn, and the time spent can change the trajectory of a life.

Volunteers must submit an application form which includes a request for a background clearance prior to working in this program. For more information, please email carlisle@andrews.edu.
