New Administrative Employees

Several important search processes here on campus have recently completed, and we are excited to welcome the following three individuals to these leadership positions at Andrews University.

Glenn (Chip) Meekma Jr. has accepted the position of vice president for Financial Administration effective September 1, 2019.

Chip has served on our campus since 2005 as our controller, working closely with the current senior vice president for Financial Administration, Lawrence Schalk, to create and manage the University’s annual budget. He has also worked with cost center managers, including vice presidents and deans, to meet budget goals and has been instrumental in preparing the five-year capital asset plan. He has additionally held significant leadership roles in management of the dairy and farm, Timber Ridge Manor and WAUS. Chip holds a BS in business administration/accounting from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, and is a CPA. Prior to his time at Andrews, Chip worked for approximately ten years with the General Conference Auditing Service in both Michigan and Maryland, moving from staff auditor to assistant staff auditor, and ultimately served as district director of auditing. He also spent two years as a financial analyst with Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Kansas.

Amy Rosenthal has accepted the position to serve as our new dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, effective July 1, 2019.

Amy has served since 2012 as vice president for Academic Administration at Southwestern Adventist University where she was responsible for academic departments, all programs of study and the faculty. She also oversaw several academic support services, including the Center for Academic Success and Advising, Distance Education, International Students, Quality Enhancement and Retention. Amy holds a PhD in history from Indiana University in Bloomington and has worked as an associate professor of history and department chair at Pacific Union College. She also taught and assisted in courses at Indiana University. Amy is president-elect of the Association of Seventh-day Adventist Historians and serves as chair of the Association of Adventist Academic Administrators.

Paulette McLean Johnson has accepted the position of dean of Libraries effective August 1, 2019.

Since 2003 Paulette has served as the director of Eva B. Dykes Library at Oakwood University where she directed library operations, services and collections and managed the hiring, training and supervision of library faculty, staff, student employees and volunteers. Paulette is a graduate of McGill University and holds an EdS with a curriculum and instruction concentration from La Sierra University. She has more than 30 years of library and leadership practice including work at Pacific Union College as a reference and instruction librarian, at La Sierra University as a periodicals coordinator, and in Ontario, Canada, as a school and public librarian. She is a past-president of the Association of Seventh-day Adventist Librarians (ASDAL) and continues to serve on several committees within the organization. She is also a founding board member of the Adventist Digital Library.

These senior administrative colleagues will all fill crucial roles in our University community as we continue to build a transformational teaching and learning environment within a financially resilient institution. We greatly appreciate the commitment each is making to being part of that future.
