Volunteer Stewardship at Warren Dunes State Park
Join in the call to action
Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019
Warren Dunes State Park, 1–4 p.m.
Help keep our critical dunes free of invasive plants! Volunteers will help remove non-native tree saplings and bushes from dune areas. No experience is necessary, and volunteers will be trained to identify target species. Volunteers will meet at the picnic area south of the campground. Enter at the main park entrance and turn right on the road to the campground, just past the entrance booths. Travel past the park headquarters toward the campground; the picnic area will be on the left.
GPS Coordinates: 41.907001, -86.591755.
This is a great opportunity for students and families to give back to nature. Students can earn Community Service or Environmental Service hours. You are still welcome even if you can’t stay the full three hours. Dress for the weather. Bring a pair of work gloves and hand trimmers if you have them. Consider a hat and a water bottle. Park entrance is waived for volunteers.
If a workday must be canceled due to inclement weather, or for any other reason, a voicemail message will be posted at 269-921-0232 at least two hours before the scheduled workday start time. If there is no cancellation message the workday will continue as planned.
