Øystein (Sten) LaBianca is retiring as professor of anthropology in the School of Social & Behavioral Sciences (formerly the Department of Behavioral Sciences). Sten has been a valued member of Andrews University since 1980 and served as chair of the Department of Behavioral Sciences from 1983–1992, when Duane McBride took on the position. Sten then focused his energies on the development of graduate programs in community and international development. He officially retired this summer but stays involved in the University as a senior research professor and director of the Madaba Plains Project through the Institute of Archaeology.

Duane McBride is retiring as professor of sociology in the School of Social & Behavioral Sciences. He has served a total of 34 years at Andrews University, including chair of the Department of Behavioral Sciences from 1992–2015. He also directs the Institute for the Prevention of Addictions and serves the community as a board chair for the Berrien County Health Department. Duane has done extensive research in the fields of criminology and drug abuse as well as leading several research projects for the Adventist Global Church Member Survey.

Please join us in celebrating their combined 74 years of dedicated service at Andrews University.

This will be a come-and-go reception. We ask that you RSVP here to help us plan for social distancing guidelines.
