Admission Requirements

  • Department-calculated minimum Science and Core GPA of 3.4 
  • GRE no longer required  
  • Qualified applicants attend an in-person or virtual interviews.
  • Three recommendation letters from a physical therapist, professor, or from an employer/supervisor, clergy, a second physical therapist or health care professional.
  • Observation Hours:  Minimum 50 hours supervised by a licensed PT in 3 different settings; minimum 10 hours in an in-patient acute care or hospital setting.

Early Assurance

Early Assurance is a guaranteed DPT admissions option is available for Andrews University freshmen who meet the following criteria:

  • Declare pre-PT as the major upon enrollment freshman fall semester
  • High school GPA minimum 3.5
  • Maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA throughout every semester (freshman through acceptance into DPT program)
  • Maintain a wholesome lifestyle per the Andrews University Student Handbook
  • Exhibit developing professional behavior
  • Satisfactory interview
  • Application through PTCAS

Students who lose Early Assurance may still apply through PTCAS for the DPT program and will be placed into the applicant pool.

Application Deadlines

  • Apply through the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS) between June 15 and March 15.
    • Priority deadline: November 15. Final deadline: March 15. 
  • Applicants with a 3.4 or higher Science and Core GPA (department calculated) will be prioritized first.

International Applicant Requirements

International Applicant Requirements:  Submit an original foreign transcript directly to the PT program. Photo copies of evaluations are not acceptable.  

 

International Language Requirements: Applicants who have been given any part of their education outside the US or Canada or whose first language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency by providing evidence through one of the following methods. Exceptions may be granted by the School of Rehabilitation Sciences on an individual basis. Test must be taken within one year prior to application. TOEFL internet-based test (iBT) is preferred.
