Andrews University applied for accreditation for our new Occupational Therapy Doctorate program and has been granted Candidacy Status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 7501 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite 510E Bethesda, MD 20814. ACOTE’s telephone number c/o AOTA is (301) 652- AOTA and its web address is www.acoteonline.org.
With candidacy status granted, the OTD program is authorized to formally admit students, and Andrews University will admit its first cohort for Fall 2026. Qualified applicants will be notified of acceptance in accordance with ACOTE policies.
ACOTE accreditation decisions are made following a pre-accreditation review and an on-site evaluation and will not occur until the second-to-last semester of the inaugural cohort (anticipated April 2029). The program must be granted Accreditation Status before graduates are eligible to sit for the national certification examination for occupational therapists administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
