With graduation approaching, seniors across campus are taking time to reflect on the journeys that brought them to this moment. From all the late-night study sessions and meaningful friendships to unforgettable campus events, their college experiences are filled with moments that leave a lasting impression. In this article, I sit down with Aaliyah Ngyou, a graduating senior majoring in business management, to talk about their time on campus, exploring their favorite memories, impactful classes, involvement in clubs and organizations, and the experiences they had that made their college years both exciting and unforgettable.

Regarding her time at Andrews, she said, “My experience at Andrews has been both insightful and memorable. For the past four years, I have learned many things on an academic and personal level. I have built friendships and relationships that have greatly impacted the person I have become today. I have also challenged myself by participating in many clubs and activities, forcing myself to get out of my comfort zone and accomplish things I never knew I could.”

Her favorite memories include “starting a dance group on campus called ‘Faith Over Fear’ as a sophomore, being a part of the Impact vespers team as a junior, then becoming president of the Black Student Christian Forum (BSCF) club as a senior.”

As our conversation went deeper, she started to talk about other things that made her college years exciting and memorable. “I have enjoyed dancing in many events on campus by showcasing emotions and various religious themes, while also hosting events on campus as BSCF president,” she said.

Then she went into depth about how her experiences didn’t just make her college years fun, but also taught her valuable life skills. “Being the BSCF president has allowed me to communicate with others and learn how to work in a team setting,” she shared.

Aaliyah briefly talked about the goals that she had when she first started college and how she worked towards achieving them. She stated, “One of my main goals these past few years has been bringing the Andrews community together, where everyone can take a break from studying and socialize with their peers. Being able to contribute to this factor excites me and has blessed my overall college experience.”

As Aaliyah prepares to graduate, her story reflects what makes the AU experience so meaningful for many students. Not just the academic part, but the growth, community and purpose discovered along the way.
