Copyright Ownership

Copyright Ownership

  • Rights - Reproduction of works; distribution of copies; making of derivative works; and the public performance and display of works.

  • Ownership -  Usually the person who created the work owns the copyright, but  the employer may be the owner if the work was “work made for hire”.

  • Transferability - Copyright owner may transfer rights and may also grant rights for public performance or open access or select a Creative Commons license.
