Biography

Mariesa is a clinical social worker licensed in both Michigan and Georgia with over ten years of practice experience. She began clinical work with children and families in Georgia in early 2012, and continued community and school-based practice after moving to Michigan in mid-2013. She transitioned to working with adult clients in 2015, when she became a behavioral health consultant in a medical center. Before coming to Andrews, she worked part-time in a private-practice setting while working on a doctorate program. She has worked with a wide range of clinical issues including anxiety, depression, grieving, ADHD, bipolar disorder, addictions, trauma, life stress, family issues, relationship problems, and adjusting to life transitions and physical health challenges.

Her therapeutic approach follows a client-centered perspective that also incorporates elements of collaborative problem-solving. Using a warm, informal style, she enjoys exploring concerns while providing empathy, encouragement, and supportive feedback in a non-judgmental therapeutic environment. She borrows elements of solution-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing to build a treatment plan that is tailored to each individual client. She enjoys working as a clinician because she believes that every person is resilient and possesses the strengths that make growth and progress possible. In her off time, she enjoys working out, camping, watching movies, and spending time with her nephew.
