Renaissance Kids Architecture Camp 2020

Campus News | Posted on May 27, 2020

The Andrews University School of Architecture & Interior Design invites families to register for the 14th annual Renaissance Kids architecture camp, a unique program filled with many creative projects. This year’s theme, “Kids Making a Stand,” refers to the main project of designing and building lemonade stands, inspired by Kidpreneur Camp.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Renaissance Kids will take place remotely beginning June 1. Monthly or summer-long subscription services are available for kids and their whole households. The camp’s core principles remain focused on collaborative hands-on projects:

  • To tackle challenges with ideation and creative design techniques
  • To learn drawing and model-building skills
  • To look at challenges from varied vantage points
  • To make physical things for more wholistic understandings
  • To engage in community services and more!

Mark Moreno, founder/director of Renaissance Kids and associate professor of architecture, believes that engaging the youth in this way empowers them to believe they can make a meaningful impact on their communities.

Renaissance Kids began in 2007, with a goal of “building with kids to build kids up.” It aspires to make complex ideas accessible to young minds by providing tools to better understand people’s relationships with each other and the physical world.

Space is limited. For more details and to register, visit andrews.edu/renkids. Subscriptions are $40 for a month or $100 for the summer.
