Dan Hamstra learned to thread a reel-to-reel tape recorder and use it to record as a child in the 1960s and has been using various AV gear personally and professionally ever since. In the 1970s, he assisted his father in operating, installing and maintaining sound systems for churches and camp meeting facilities in the Lake Union and ran sound as a student at Grand Ledge Academy. As a student at Andrews University in the 1980s, he ran sound for a variety of campus clubs and the music department. While working in the IT department at Andrews University in the 1990s, he was in charge of the “house audio” and volunteer AV crew at Pioneer Memorial Church. Later in the 1990s, as Technical Services Manager at the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, he supervised the in-house video production studio and AV departments. He presently serves as Director of Audio/Visual Services and Telecommunications for Andrews University. In addition to their IT responsibilities, his team handles AV services for events in the Howard Performing Arts Center, Pioneer Memorial Church, and other venues on and off campus. He has been a volunteer and occasionally paid AV operator at every church where he has been a member. He is also proficient in most areas of multi camera live video production and streaming.  Dan has a B.S. in Computer Science from Andrews University.
