Graduate Student Grants in Aid of Research (GAR)

Application Deadline: April 15

Graduate students are invited to apply for a Grant-in-Aid-of-Research for up to $1000 to help defray their research expenses (e.g., travel for research and other research expenses). Up to twenty grants will be awarded annually on a competitive basis.  Applications are accepted from March 1st - April 15th.  The funds are made available for use from the start of the summer session and can be used for one year. These scholarship-grants are only for research expense reimbursement and may not be used to fund student time or labor.

Application: Download the 2024 Grant Application and email the completed form to research@andrews.edu.

Expense Reimbursement: There are two ways this grant/scholarship can cover your expenses:

  1. If the student pays for their supplies and other needs directly, you should (a) complete the reimbursement request form and attach your receipts; (b) have your Research Advisor sign the form; and (c) submit the receipts and signed form to the Office of Research and Creative Scholarship (Buller Hall 234). After we receive the documents, we will authorize the scholarship of up to $1000 to be paid to your student account. You may request Student Financial Services to give you these funds if your account does not have a negative balance (withdrawal form).
  2. If the department pays for your supplies, your research advisor may submit the receipts, and we will reimburse the department directly for the expenses up to $1000.
