From Oct. 17-18, Andrews University hosted the last days of Impact 2025, an evangelistic initiative from the Lake Union Conference as part of the larger Pentecost 2025 initiative by the North American Division. The featured speaker was Pastor Alejandro Bullón, a veteran evangelist who has been making Christ known throughout Latin America and beyond for decades. In addition, the campus also welcomed beloved Brazilian quartet, Arautos do Rei, who are known as the Brazilian version of the American quartet The King’s Heralds.
Andrews served as the site for the Spanish-language version of the program, called Impacto 2025, with a service held on Friday evening and another on Saturday afternoon in the Pioneer Memorial Church (PMC) sanctuary. These services provided an opportunity for Hispanic members from across the region to come together and engage in their own language.
On Friday evening, more than 900 people attended the opening service. The program began with greetings from PMC pastors Shane Anderson and Hans Miranda Chavez, followed by introductions of local Spanish pastors and church leaders, including Andrews University President John Wesley Taylor V, Provost Wagner Kuhn, Lake Union Vice President Carmelo Mercado, and Michigan Conference President Jim Micheff. After brief remarks, Arautos do Rei opened with inspiring music, later followed by the Pioneer Sanctuary Choir and praise team, leading bilingual worship. Two families shared moving testimonies and were baptized during the service. Pastor Bullón then preached a powerful message in Romans 1:16, urging believers not to be ashamed of the gospel. As Arautos do Rei sang “Si Él No Fuera el Primero,” 16 individuals came forward to dedicate their lives to Christ.

Juan Martinez (sophomore, biology pre-medical) said, “The message based on Romans 1:16 reminded me of the true power of preaching the Gospel. Pastor Bullón’s words deeply impacted me, especially the story of forgiveness and transformation. It was one of the most inspiring services of the year and an encouraging reminder to keep sharing God’s message with everyone.”
In addition, Paulo Silas Ferreira Jr. (MDiv), who had the privilege to sing with the Arautos do Rei during this Impact series, said, “Joining the evangelistic caravan with the Arautos do Rei was an unforgettable experience filled with faith, joy and evidence of God’s love. Growing up surrounded by preaching and Christian music, I was inspired by Pastor Alejandro Bullón and groups like The King’s Heralds… which deepened my love for sharing the gospel through music. Singing with the Arautos do Rei alongside Pastor Bullón in the U.S. was a dream come true, and a living testimony of God’s faithfulness.”
Saturday afternoon’s service began with a dramatic entrance from Arautos do Rei, whose music set a tone of reverence and joy for the final gathering of Impact 2025. Pastors Shane Anderson and Hans Miranda Chavez welcomed the congregation and expressed gratitude for everyone who came together for this special weekend. The worship team then led the audience in heartfelt songs in both English and Spanish, uniting voices across cultures in praise. During the service, three individuals were baptized. Pastor Bullón then delivered an inspiring sermon on Romans 6: 3–4, reflecting on Christ’s death and resurrection and reminding listeners that His sacrifice calls each believer to live a renewed life in Him.

Another highlight of this weekend was Bullón stopping by the seminary building to have a special meeting for the seminarians, telling them about his career. As a renowned evangelist, author, and media speaker who has worked in Brazil and Peru, he served in various pastoral and leadership roles across South America and was able to share his experience with the students. Speaking in Spanish, he told the students, “To be an evangelist, you have to have a personal connection with Christ, the center of the gospel.” He told the students about his first evangelical campaign in a stadium and how he felt called to be a pastor ever since he was a child. He also implored them to “not seek recognition, but a change of the heart,” and that “the gospel is not permissiveness, it is transformation.”
Christian Barrera (graduate student, seminary) shared that “Pastor Bullón encouraged the theology majors and seminarians about how to be intentional with people when it comes to ministering to them. We are to ask God for guidance to use us as servants for His kingdom! What impacted me was that he talked from all his experiences in ministry.”
Impacto 2025 was a powerful weekend, full of heartfelt worship and inspiring messages, an event that left a lasting impact on the Andrews community and beyond, continuing the mission of Pentecost 2025 to spread the gospel with courage and love.
