Change Day

What is Change Day?

Here at Andrews University we seek every opportunity to live out our mission -- Seek Knowledge, Affirm Faith, and Change the World. It’s with this mission in mind that we first began Change Day, a day inspired by the life of our namesake John Nevins Andrews. He was a scholar, single-parent and the first missionary of our church, and his life of service is an example for us all.

In 2017, our Provost, Dr. Christon Arthur conceived an extraordinary notion: a dedicated service day for Andrews University. As plans began, the Change Day Committee was formed out of the Andrews Community Engagement Council, and with the leadership of Desmond Murry, June Price, and Lorraine Polite. While collaborating with University faculty, and staff and the Campus Ministries Department, they orchestrated a day for our campus to give back to our community, to engage with our neighbors, and to be world changers right here in southwest Michigan. Since 2018, Teela Ruehle, the Center for Faith Engagement, and student leaders have taken on the coordination of Change Day as well as continued service projects throughout the year.
